The Butler County Fair Board meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room of the Butler County Historic Courthouse at 7:00 pm
A Note from the President
I am Curtis Willhite, a long time Butler County resident and current president of the new Butler County Kansas Fair Board. I was a member of the former Butler County Kansas Fair Association and served on that Board of Directors. Due to difficulties filling empty Director positions for that association, the County Commission chose to use the new State Statute that allows them to appoint directors to an advisory board to plan and oversee the County Fair.
With that said the new Board of Directors is made up of 15 individuals representing the entire county and specifically each of the 5 Commissioner Districts. We have a good mix of former association members and new people to plan and oversee a County Fair that will reflect the fairs of the past while growing into our ever-changing future. We intend to continue many time-honored traditions as we plan opportunities for 4-H and FFA members to present and exhibit their accomplishments throughout the year with their projects. We are also adding more open class opportunities for the residents of the county so that they may also participate.
We hope that the residents of Butler County will continue to support and participate in one of our great summer traditions. Butler County has had a County Fair since the late 1890’s and we hope to continue this great tradition for at least 100 more years.

Following new state legislation, the commission established the new fair board starting January 1st. The commissioners’ goal is to have an active board which is better engaged with the Commission, so as to allow for a wonderful fair experience for all participants. This also allows the Fair Board to be a 501c3 and tax-exempt entity for donations.
More About The Board
The Butler County Fair Board is comprised of fifteen (15) volunteers who are Butler County residents. Prospective members are appointed by the Butler County Board of County Commissioners through an application process.
Fair Board members represent the Butler County Fair annually in July and work on strategic planning and business ideas throughout the year to help sustain the Butler County Fair.
